Hi Denise,

Thanks for reading. I looked up Hotel Gonzalo, and the location is fantastic. Right near the 5th avenue of Madrid (sort of), Paseo de Castellana to the east is lovely, and to the left you have the barrio de las letras (neighborhood of the letters, where spanish golden age writers lived) where you can find wonderful streets like calle huertas. not to mention all the museos right outside your place.

regarding internet, there are tons of what are called locutorios (i suppose i should put that in the blog), where you can call anywhere in the world or use an internet connected computer for as long as your money lasts, but i dont believe they have webcams for video chat. if i find that any do ill be sure to let you know. there are also establishments that have free wifi, cafes and such like the states. one i know of is called sandwich club. starbucks is here too and they might have it. there are more that advertise but to be honest i havent paid attention since ive gotten internet at my flat months ago. city publications advertise free wifi in places like plaza mayor but when i tried those in my first days here i found that you needed to purchase and set up an account. i dont know what the definitive word is, but i dont think they are very reliable. one final suggestion is to send an email or call your hotel and ask them the amenities they provide or can steer you to in the area. hotels in the continent tend to be far less reliant on the things we come to depend on in the states, but there is always some way around the obstacle in your way.

let me know if you have any other questions. i have people here who are all versed in different things, some locutorio users or other frequent market shoppers, so i can access some good insider info. send me a message letting me know that this found you, im not sure how to communicate via blogspot and i dont know if this will find you or not.

hasta luego,
tomas
